The Grange

The Grange Fellowship, affectionately known as the Grange, was a Christian young peoples’ meeting point for Bible study, prayer, social interaction and Christian service in Chiswick, West London, England during the 1960s and ‘70s. It was led by Rev. Martin and Grace Gouldthorpe from its foundation in 1961 until they left for new ministry in Canada at the beginning of 1975. The Grange continued after that into the 1980s, led by mature Christians who had been active members of the Grange for a number of years.

This website was created and is maintained by Lesley (Watson) Willey, a member of the Grange. She was encouraged in this project by other members, particularly Dr. Brian Morris.

Although the regular activities of the Grange came to an end in the 1980s, the Grange alumni has remained very much intact. Lifelong friendships were made and maintained. Quite a number met and married their spouses through the Grange. There have been reunions, the most recent being on 25 October 2008 in Chiswick. At that reunion, the project of the Grange Fellowship website received a substantial boost. During the years of operation, the Grange experienced extraordinary blessing from the Lord. Many young people were brought to saving faith in the Lord Jesus. We learned how to enjoy our fellowship as believers in Christ in ways that brought us very close to each other and resulted in sound spiritual growth. We learned how to serve, not only each other but even more importantly, our community and the world. We learned that, being Christians with a dynamic, personal relationship with Christ, life could be lived to its fullest as we served our Saviour. The Grange was, by any standard, a success and in some ways, unique. It was Brian (Morris) who strongly felt that a record should be made, setting out what the Lord did among us, how it changed so many lives and affected the way we subsequently lived our lives. In this age of computers and the Internet, an interactive website is the perfect vehicle to accomplish the task of making such a record.

Lesley agreed to use her considerable expertise to set up the site and be its administrator. Martin agreed to write the history of the Grange which is being posted in the History section chapter by chapter as each one is completed. If you were a member or friend of the Grange, this is your site. Many pictures have already been added and you may find yourself in at least one of them. You are strongly encouraged to be part of this wonderful project. You will have memories worth sharing. Your testimony of how you came to faith in the Lord Jesus will be a thrilling contribution. The story of how the Lord has led you and used you these last thirty years will be of interest to us all. Pictures that you have of Grange events deserve to be seen. You might also be interested, if you have a Face Book account, in joining The Grange Fellowship Group on Face Book.

Please write your stories/memories/comments and send them to Lesley at: grangefellowship@gmail.com. Send your pictures as attached jpeg images to her at the same email address.

If you are a visitor to this site either because someone recommended it to you or you just happened to find us, you are very welcome. We hope what you find here will be a blessing to you. Further, any comments you wish to make would also be welcomed. Please send them to Lesley at the email address given above.

Harry and I recently received a Christmas newsletter from Colin and Marion Jones with a snippet that is of interest to the Grange Fellowship - see under Updates. Also, photos of Jim and Janet Morris' family have been added to Updates; they included their son Craig and his sons and their daughter Lynne with her husband and family.

Mike Benge has a new website which is listed in the links below and where you will see he has recently completed a recording. Mike's new CD is called Driving Home in Good Faith. So do check out his website to find out more or if you would like to buy a copy.

Windyridge, Mike and Tricia Benge's new home, has an entry on the Grange Fellowship Interactive web site. Mike and Tricia recently had a small house party of invited guests which in a round about way also included something of Mel Fitton's 60th birthday party, although we still await photos of the latter.
